Malevil Cup - UCI Mountain Bike Marathon Series 2018

Vier Strecken stehen beim Mountainbike Marathon am 9.6.2018 im Lausitzer Gebirge nördlich von Prag zur Auswahl. Auch in diesem Jahr zählt das Rennen zu den UCI Marathon World Series und ist wieder Teil der beliebten Bike24 MarathonMan Europe Serie.

Spring is here and soon the Lusatian Mountains will be full of bike riders. The 19th International Bikemarathon Malevil Cup will take place on Saturday 9th of June. The race is listed on the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon Series 2018, as well as in the prestigious MarathonMan Europe series. There are 4 race distances on offer – 100, 65, 45 and 25 km.

Amateur and professional riders line up side by side to take part in Malevil Cup each year.

The Malevil Cup has a real mix of trails including fast open fireroads, grassy farm tracks, super rocky jeep track descents, loose steep rocky climbs, and fun root covered singletrack. It’s a great location to ride and race, enjoyable but very tough. The scenery in this part of Lusatian Mountains (Czech Republic) and Zittau Mountains (Germany) is spectacular.

The Malevil Cup course starts at Malevil Resort in Heřmanice v Podještědí, passes over the German border. The course runs through the Oybin Spa and heads to the mountain prize at the top of Hvozd (Hochwald). Passes back into Czech Republic further west, before finishing up on the Malevil Resort golf course in Heřmanice v Podještědí. It’s quite an achievement to pull off the logistics of visiting 2 countries.

The Malevil Cup is one of the most popular mountain bike marathon in the Czech Republic. In the year 2012 the event hosted the European Championships and it also hosted UCI Mountain Bike Marathon Series 4 times.

Last year Malevil Cup hosted around 1500 athletes from 13 countries. Top riders such as Johnny Cattaneo, Nicola Rohrbach or Massimo Debertolis started on the Malevil Cup last year. They praised the organization and the race course.
