Rennbericht (engl.)
At exactly 7:00 AM, more than 2,300 cyclists departed from Piazza Galimberti, splitting after the Soleri Viaduct onto the two competitive routes. The Granfondo group tackled the early kilometers at an average speed of 45 km/h.

In the men’s long race, Manuele Caddeo (#149, OM.CC) and Andrea Gallo (#2377, ASD Jolly Europrestige) made their move at the entrance to the Valle Varaita, pulling away from the chasers and attacking the Colle di Sampeyre with a lead of 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

On the Colle di Sampeyre—the first KOM of the long route—it was Stéphane Cognet (winner of the 2024 edition, #1, OM.CC) and Matteo Raimondi (#156, OM.CC) who set off in pursuit, followed by Frédéric Glorieux (#80, GF Cycling Club – Tauris) and Enrico Bertot (#93, Sutalatur Bike Salassa).

In the pine forest of Colle di Sampeyre, Caddeo found himself alone. The duo of Cognet and Raimondi caught and dropped Gallo, then closed the gap to Caddeo just before the summit. At the top, Raimondi led with a 2-second advantage over Caddeo and Cognet, while Glorieux passed 4th at 2 minutes and 32 seconds, and Bertot 5th at 3 minutes and 47 seconds.

The OM.CC trio rode in concert through the descent and flat stretch between Stroppo and Ponte Marmora. At the attack of the day’s second KOM, Colle Fauniera, the three remained together. The double-digit gradients on the Val Maira side narrowed the contest to two. The Raimondi–Cognet duo crested Colle Fauniera with a 3′ 54″ lead over Caddeo. Caddeo gave it his all on the descent, but cramping hampered his chase.

On Madonna del Colletto, the two leaders rode side by side. Behind them, Glorieux took advantage of Caddeo’s muscle pain to pass him on the steep final climb—the third and last KOM of the day. The leading pair kept pace until 2 km from the finish, when Raimondi launched his sprint, catching his breakaway companion by surprise. Matteo Raimondi (OM.CC) won the main race in 5 h 37 ′ 56″ (avg. 30.54 km/h), 14″ ahead of Stephane Cognet (OM.CC) and 9′ 32″ ahead of Frederic Glorieux (GF Cycling Club – Tauris).

The women’s Granfondo unfolded more straightforwardly: Annalisa Prato (bib 155, OM.CC) led from the first climb at Colle di Sampeyre. A former La Fausto Coppi Mediofondo winner in 2018 and 2019, the Cuneo native broke clear early and maintained her lead over Colle Fauniera, Madonna del Colletto, and the fast finish to Cuneo. She crossed the line in 6 h 20 ′ 24″ (avg. 27.13 km/h), 29′ 43″ ahead of Iride Bertone (bib 2616, Roero Speed Bike) and 33′ 28″ ahead of Mara Oprandi (bib 2601, Team Sildom Garda).

Just as in the long distance race, the men’s Mediofondo also saw a Piedmontese 1–2 finish: Marco Provera (bib 168, Team Mentecorpo Cicli Drigani) won in 3 h 33 ′ 02″ (avg. 31.26 km/h), 3′ 13″ ahead of teammate Simone Bounous (bib 164), and 3′ 38″ ahead of Aldo Ghiron (bib 2615, Roero Speed Bike). Martina Cavallo (OM.CC) completed the Piedmont clean sweep in the women’s Mediofondo, finishing in 3 h 51 ′ 23″ (avg. 28.78 km/h), 14′ 41″ ahead of the second-place rider (Team Staweld Buzzolan) and 34′ 39″ ahead of Natalia Nazarova (Arci Baccano).
