Stephen Roche is one of just two cyclists ever to achieve the Triple Crown of Cycling: winning the Tour, the Giro and the World Championship in one year. On May 18, the Irishman will join 5,000 cyclists from over 70 countries and 48 US States in cycling 100 miles at the 4th annual Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York (GFNY).
Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York cyclists and fans will have ample opportunities for photos and autographs with the legendary Stephen Roche. He will be at NYC Bike Expo, the two-day pre-race expo of Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York on Friday, May 16 from 11am-1pm. Roche will also be present at the GFNY press conference on Friday, May 16. On May 18, Roche will line up with 5,000 other cyclists on New York City's George Washington Bridge and take on 100 miles of Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York. At the GFNY Finish Area, Roche will again be available for photos and autographs, and will also go on stage to award prizes during the race's 3pm awards ceremony.
Stephen Roche's attendance at Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York isn't just an extraordinary experience for the race's participants. GFNY's CEO, Uli Fluhme, is also very excited. "I scored Stephen's autograph as a 16-year old cycling fan", says Fluhme. "He was my hero. It's really cool to have him at our race, some 25 years later."
In addition to Roche's presence at GFNY, representatives from Stephen Roche Cycling Holidays & Training Camps will be exhibiting at NYC Bike Expo and promoting Roche's cycling camps in Mallorca, Spain. The camps provide cyclists of all ages and levels of ability with fully guided cycling holidays that are supported by a professional team of staff. The Stephen Roche cycling camps are held in two sessions, in the spring and fall, and provide an exceptional level of customer service and a quality cycling holiday to each guest.

Gran Fondo New York Inc. announces GFNY ITALIA and GFNY COZUMEL-MEXICO
GFNY ITALIA on September 21 and GFNY COZUMEL-MEXICO on November 23 will be the first events of the newly-founded 2014 GFNY WORLD series.
The organizers of Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York created the GFNY WORLD series for two reasons: to bring the spirit and quality of Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York to other parts of the world and to provide Gran Fondo New York participants the opportunity to get their GFNY fix more than just once a year. Every year after the event, Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York receives tons of emails from riders asking "What now?". With the creation of the GFNY WORLD series, there are now events globally that guarantee the same quality and experience as the New York event.
"We have partnered with local event organizers who hold the same values as us, love the sport of cycling and their cities and want to bring together local and international cyclists to share the same experience of riding their roads," explains Uli Fluhme, CEO of Gran Fondo New York Inc.
With GFNY Italia on September 21, 2014, Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York is coming full circle back to the motherland. The GFNY team has partnered with Largo Sole Eventi, an experienced granfondo organizer and tour operator in central Italy, to bring the New York flavor to a granfondo in Italy. The event will be headquartered in Terracina, a small coastal town one hour south of Rome’s Fiumicino International airport. Largo Sole CEO Nico Zoppo says: "GFNY Italia will be organized according to the quality standards of the best Italian granfondos. Participants will get a chance to ride from the sea to the mountains and back. During the week prior to the event, there will be organized excursions to historical and cultural sights as well as to local food and wine producers.”
GFNY Cozumel on November 23, 2014, is the first granfondo held in paradise. Cozumel is a tropical island in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico. Cozumel is a destination for its beaches, scuba diving and snorkeling. “I did the inaugural Ironman Cozumel in 2009 and immediately fell in love with the island,” says Lidia Fluhme, President of Gran Fondo New York. “Cozumel’s warm climate, crystal clear sea water and friendly people make it the ideal early winter getaway. It’s an honor for us to host a GFNY event there.”
